Top 5 Colorado National Parks!
Colorado has some of the most diverse landscapes and epic...
Hello friends!
Casey and I love to travel. We’ve done so since we got married; we spent our honeymoon in Walt Disney World, and have been going on trips ever since, usually once or twice a year if we can swing it. If we don’t have a trip on the books we feel deflated, so we usually plan our next adventure while we are on our current adventure.
As we get older, we’ve started prioritizing our lives: what things are important, what things are a waste of time…what do we want to do with our lives? (Funny that we ask our children this question while internally asking ourselves the same thing.)
Life is kinda trippy … it’s full of things you don’t expect and never planned for. Once we had children, we never imagined I’d be homeschooling our two daughters. I was always the mom that said “Oh, I am the worst person to teach my children. I have no patience, I don’t know how to teach,”… But after my oldest daughter finished kindergarten, we decided to homeschool.
Life is kinda trippy … We never imagined we’d live in 5 different places in the 18 years we’ve been married. But after homeschooling, we weren’t tied down to a ‘system’. We were ‘free spirits’ so to speak. Also homeschooling gave us the freedom to travel on the shoulder seasons when things are cheaper and less crowded….boy were we spoiled.
Life is kinda trippy … Let me tell you a little secret. Since I was a small child growing up, in one of the smallest towns in Colorado, I loved to travel. One of my fondest memories was when my father leaned down and whispered in my ear “After church, let’s go to….” It could be anywhere; just a 30 minute drive or across the state, but the spontaneity hooked me. He opened the door to Just Go!
Life is kinda trippy … full of unexpected advice. As I mentioned, I grew up in a small town. My mother always said, “Michaele, there is nothing here for you. Get out as fast as possible.” So I did. I went to Mexico with a language class in high school. When in college, I couldn’t decide on a major, so I left and traveled the world with Up With People. That’s when my love of travel really took root and when I realized that deep-down, people are all the same. We all want to be happy, take care of our families and be loved. It doesn’t matter how much money you have; the happiest people we’ve met have been some of the poorest.
Life is kinda trippy … I never thought I would marry someone who had only been out of Colorado once. Now he plans most of our adventures (and does a great job!) and he travels internationally for work. Two people who grew up in the tiniest dots on a map found each other and now enjoy a life of travel together.
Life is kinda trippy … I never thought we would ever write a blog. On our most recent trip to Europe, Casey and I kept having the same thoughts, “There’s got to be more to life than working all the time. …and what are we going to do when the kids leave the house in just a few short years?”
This started us asking more questions… “What things are important, what do we enjoy and what do we want to do with our lives?”
So, what did we figure out?
Travel is important, at least to us. And it’s never a waste of time.
Our dream is to travel for a living. So, we created this blog to share our experiences, connect with others like us and hear from people like you about your adventures. Will we ever realize our dream? Who knows. What we do know is life is kinda trippy and always keeps us guessing.
